OUR MISSION
Community is at the heart of Slabtown Studios. Too much in the world is built to pacify us. Background noise on the TV, another doomscroll in bed. We aim for the opposite. Stories that electrify, that give you a reason to leave the house, find your people, and celebrate the human experience. We believe in staying curious, in art that keeps us honest about who we are and asks something of us in return. Together, we can all touch grass.
JULIAN MERCADO AVILA
Julian is a Woodbury BFA in Creative Producing, award-winning work across narrative and commercial, and the operational discipline to turn a vision into a schedule, a production, and a finished film. He's the reason Slabtown projects get made the way they're supposed to get made; with a keen craftsman eye & a heart of passion.
DARIEN JEWEL
Darien didn't go to film school. He learned by doing, production assistant to producer, project by project, until the credits were real and the distribution deals were signed. He built projects around a simple belief: the right story, made for the right community, doesn't need a studio's permission to find its audience. Two SAG features later, he's still proving it.
SUPPORTING CREATIVES
Slabtown started in Cambria (originally called Slab Town), a tight-knit community on the Central Coast, far from the industry, close to what actually matters. That's where Julian and Darien learned to build without a safety net. Now based in LA, they offer creatives end-to-end support from first draft to final distribution deal.
